'Apple in big trouble - can't survive'

I chuckled when I read this:

“Apple’s in big trouble. They’re sitting on piles of cash, but they are sitting on a closed system. In biology, in history, a closed system never survives”

Especially when he followed it up with this:

It is for this reason that he applauds Ford for adopting an open system with its MyFord Touch and SYNC Applink technologies.

Ford is definitely not in trouble.. Apple is.

I believe Paul Haddad described it best.

Apple Reverses Course On In-App Subscriptions

Apple has quietly changed its guidelines on the pricing of In-App Subscriptions on the App Store. There are no longer any requirements that a subscription be the “same price or less than it is offered outside the app”. There are no longer any guidelines about price at all. Apple also removed the requirement that external subscriptions must be also offered as an in-app purchase.

The Heist sold over 500,000 Paid downloads in 1 week

In just a little over 6.5 days, The Heist has racked up a staggering 501,813 sales at 99¢, totaling well over $300,000 in revenue. To put that in perspective, our last chart-topping app, Voices, managed to clear 300,000 sales… in its first month, meaning The Heist has been outselling it at a rate of nearly 8 fold! Makes us wonder if we outsold the entire paid Android marketplace this week

"I'm a PC guy and I just opened a software downloads store"

Shawn Blanc on Amazon’s new Mac Software Downloads Store:

I love Amazon and shop there all the time. But I’m just saying, this feels like if the “I’m a PC” guy from the commercials had switched to Mac and then opened a software downloads store.
