I love the concept of the detachable keyboard. Looks really cool.

There seems to be some confusion about wether or not it’s US bound.
Crunchgear says: “From what I was told, the plan is to release the device in China first, then expand to the US”

While CNet apparently was told something different: “a representative from Lenovo has said that it has no plans to release it in the U.S. market.”

Really doubt they will ever bring it to Europe. Can’t even buy a Palm Pre here yet.

Dear Consumer Electronics Association

Dear Consumer Electronics Association,

I, unlike some many other geeks, can’t get enough of daylight. I crave a nice dose off good old fashioned sun light every day. Waking up to a sunny day automatically puts a smile on my face. Some people actually would pick a snowy day over a sunny day, not me. In my opinion the only days of the year that warrant some snow over sunshine are the days of Christmas. But maybe that’s just the Christmas songs, that are still stuck in my head, talking.

Living in a country like The Netherlands, which has a maritime climate, made up off cool summers, ‘mild’ winters and basically allot of rain can be frustrating at times for a sun loving geek like myself. Christmas time has come and gone. Though when I look out the window I still see what meteorologists consider to be ‘mild’ winter weather with no signs of spring what so ever. Luckily for me you organize a trade show to help me trough these dark times. The Consumer Electronics Show is something I look forward to every year. Something that helps me take my mind of the freezing cold weather and warms my hearth and mind with joy and excitement at the prospect of new gadgets to be released by leading tech companies from all over the world.

Today CES 2010 kicked off and boy they didn’t waste any time announcing some really awesome stuff. I can’t wait to get my hands on some of them. Plenty of sites provide live-coverage from the event which leads to a constant stream of pictures, videos and spec cheats from newly announced products. Thus giving those Gadget lovers who weren’t fortunate enough to attend the event itself a chance to make their blood stream faster. Nothing Hardly anything makes sitting inside on a cold winter day more bearable than drinking a good cup of coffee while reading about a a lot of new Gadgets and tech products that were just released.

Maybe the show is held in this period for exactly that reason. Let’s face it, we just went through the holiday period, and we all know how expensive those days can be are. So it can’t be because we have money to burn and don’t have anything to spend it on. The fact that the show is held in Las Vegas only adds weight to that suspicion. It’s in the middle of the dessert for crying out loud. Who wouldn’t want to go there in the middle of the winter for a few days to defrost themselves and enjoy at-least some sunshine. I’m starting to ramble so I should wrap up.

Basically what I’m trying to say is, thank you. Thank you for making the cold winter days more bearable for those 4 days each winter. That there may be many more gadget filled winters to come. And that I may attend CES somewhere in the near future.

Regards,

GidoGeek
