3 Major Issues with the Latest iPhone Tracking “Discovery”

I’ve been following the recent news stories about the iPhone’s “hidden tracking system” very closely. The main stream media was obviously all over this. After all, who doesn’t love a good scandal involving Apple? It’s guaranteed to get a lot of hits. As a geek I’ve learned to take every single news article about Apple with a huge grain of salt, especially when it reaches the main stream media. In all this madness I was glad to discover an interesting article by somebody who actually investigated the issue at hand and didn’t blatantly copy & paste headlines. The man actually wrote a book on it before this “news” ever came out:

Alex Levinson wrote:

Apple is not harvesting this data from your device. This is data on the device that you as the customer purchased and unless they can show concrete evidence supporting this claim – network traffic analysis of connections to Apple servers – I rebut this claim in full.

I highly recommend you read his blog post on the subject.
