Re: Apple’s System Apps →
Gruber: … Gruber implies such a scenario is a non-starter, but I think it could work fairly nicely. The App Store app already notices when you’re reinstalling an app you’ve already downloaded (mostly so Apple doesn’t charge you again, I suspect). I could envision App Store getting a… Settings.app already kind of does this, the hiding of system apps, with Parental Restrictions. You...

Anti-Distraction Software →
Shawn links to an interesting article by The Economist about Anti-Distraction Software. Shawn considers iPad OS or iOS as it’s called now to be the best Anti-Distraction Software. But there is no doubt that when using my iPad (regardless of if it’s for work or leisure), I am significantly less prone to distraction or multitasking than when I am using my MacBook Pro. I don’t have...

Gitbox →
Gitbox is a nice little interface for Git. I wrote it primarily for myself and my friends to optimize everyday operations. Go download the app from the website and come back here for details. Gitbox displays each repository in a little separate window. Each window has 3 parts: branches toolbar,… I’ve been trying out Gitbox for 2 days now and I can honestly say that it’s the...

WatchWatch
When visiting certain sites Safari 5 keeps crashing on me. Before I upgraded to Safari 5 I was using Webkit’s Nightly Builds as my default browser. I can honestly say that in over 1 year of using Webkit’s Nightly Builds I have had less browser crashes then in 1 week of Safari 5. What’s going on Apple ?

manfan asked: Hi, I've just watched your unboxing video on Vimeo. I'd like to buy a MBP 15" i7 too but I have a few doubts about he new hi-res screen. I fear that web sites appear too tiny with hard to read text (I hate to zoom with cmd+). In fact 129 PPI is a really high resolution. Could you post on vimeo a video showing some safari windows (nytimes.com, guardian.co.uk, corriere.it,...

Tightwind — Thoughts on IPhone 4 →
minimalmac: Although Apple is certainly padding the iPhone’s feature list with this release, they aren’t attempting to compete with Android phones feature-by-feature. Instead, they are trying to continually redefine exactly what a smartphone is, and thus force their competitors to compete on Apple’s terms. They’re trying to make everyone else respond to them, rather than the other way...

You couldn't pay me to work for Ballmer →
Jobs is lucid and reasoned. Ballmer is… Hell, I don’t even know how to describe it. He’s all over the place. No clear definitions, just randomly running his mouth. Compared to Jobs, I think it’s charitable to call him pathetic.
